About
The practical recognition and training program for the conservators of the built heritage in Israel began in 2014. The guiding rationale was to cultivate a professional workforce of conservators of the built heritage, who would be trusted to preserve practically the heritage assets of the State of Israel.
The program was established thanks to the cooperation between the Israel Antiquities Authority, the Nature and Parks Authority, the Council for the Preservation of Heritage Sites in Israel, and the Planning Director of the Ministry of the Interior, who received sponsorship for this purpose from the Jerusalem and Heritage Ministry's Landmarks Program.
Veteran conservators and graduates of the five training courses held under the auspices of ICCROM are the nucleus of the built heritage conservator community.
Mission
The conservator community together with the organizations for the preservation of cultural assets aims to raise the issue of conservation to the public and professional agenda, to act with responsibility and commitment to the preservation of cultural heritage for future generations.
* The Steering Committee of the Conservators of the Built Heritage was established in 2014 as a professional committee to chart the way in the process of building the built heritage community, with professional support, in planning the contents and the annual enrichment.
The committee is a purely professional committee and its members are recognized and appreciated conservators who were invited for their professionalism only and not as a representative of an institution, organization, or company. Vision
The process of recognizing the conservators as a profession by the state began in 2018 and has not been completed, and is one of the biggest challenges facing the state and the world of conservation in Israel.
